Re: don't feed the animals, we had to relocate a squirrel who was very aggressive towards people because people had been hand feeding him and he would bite people to try and get them to drop food. Don't feed them! They eventually turn to lives of crime to get that delicious human food.

Bought a Grippi copy of the jetboil on Amazon for under $23 works great piezo igniter never fails. If you use the brs you need to weight the pot wind screen tank stand and on a longer trip the additional fuel you have to carry. By turning down the heat exchanger stove you can also reduce fuel consumption and therefore weight. For short trips a 100g tank can be used reducing weight for either stove. The Grippi stove was on sale regular price is about $45 . I bought a 2nd to carry in my truck.

I think doggies can agitate bears. I guess it is another good reason to keep our dogs on leash unless it’s specifically an off leash trail. I dunno anything about the couple in Banff and so I am not pointing fingers here! I just have a canine friend and worry about making sure we’re all safe and comfortable.

What about section hiking on the big three? I am particularly interested in the WA section of the PCT.

I had to stop being vegetarian because I cannot eat legumes. I wasn’t getting enough protein because, no beans, lentils, garbanzo beans, peanuts. I wasn’t getting enough complete proteins.

On my first backpacking trip ever, I ended up without easy access to my poop kit while I was on the trail, and so very sorely regretted it. 0 stars, do not recommend.

I’m loving all of this. Just got to adapt it to the uk where I always have to bag everything in dry bags. Rain is guaranteed! So we always have to pack spare clothes as well. What do you wear to sleep in?

Nice video! But I would recommend a pack liner and to put your sleep system+ dry clothes + battery Bank and cables in at the bottom and to keep your tent more accessible. Even if in the desert a pack liner helps to keep your sleep gear clean off sand that can seep in through other gear that you keep on the ground, like your bear can or chair.

Thanks so much for sharing this, for the many who suffer from anxiety/panic disorder, it cannot be emphasized enough how helpful it is to talk , understanding that this is a situation where your mind is playing tricks on you, and you are really gonna be OK. A panic attack will not kill you, you need to try and get control of your racing mind and calm yourself. I know this is difficult and much harder than it seems, but just understanding exactly what is happening is essential to getting through a very bad situation, you will wake up and be alive the next day. Let your mind know who is boss! Thanks Miranda.

i drooled as a small kid, but i grew out of it. been over a decade since i last drooled in my sleep.

As a beginner backpacker this was super helpful!! I overpack (professional teardrop camper w/ EVERYTHING packed and no weight limits haha!!) so seeing everything you bring and how you pack is so great! FYI - link to the pee funnel is broken (adding that to my kit!)

For some reason I can never get to eating backpackers pantry or peak refuel. Mountain house does the job for me. I will say though, it is fun to try new things. Great video.
